Initiated by Moonshine Music Inc. and established in July 2022, Club Sagacité is a Black-led non-profit organization dedicated to supporting Afro-descendant and marginalized artists within Montreal’s cultural landscape. As a creative hub for music and culture, we create spaces for emerging and established artists to learn, connect, collaborate and grow through workshops, industry panels, mentorship, networking, skill-sharing and professional development.
Our mission is to remove barriers to access and opportunity within the creative industries, with a particular commitment to communities that have historically been underrepresented and underserved. Through accessible programming, mentorship, resources and meaningful connections to the wider cultural ecosystem, we help artists develop their skills, expand their networks and build sustainable creative careers.
Rooted in community, collaboration and knowledge-sharing, Club Sagacité brings artists and industry professionals together across disciplines, backgrounds and stages of their careers. By investing in the people shaping culture today and tomorrow, we aim to strengthen a more equitable, connected and vibrant creative landscape in Montreal and beyond.

CLUB SAGACITÉ HOUSE RULES & COMMUNITY GUIDELINES
Club Sagacité is a shared space rooted in learning, experimentation, meaningful connection and skill sharing. These guidelines exist to help us maintain a space where members can create, learn and connect with care for one another and the community.
Lead with care. Cultivate a spirit of grace, compassion, encouragement and generosity in your interactions with those around you. Members, guests and staff are expected to treat one another with respect, kindness and courtesy.
Respect people’s boundaries. Harassment, intimidation, unwanted advances, discriminatory behaviour or any form of violence will not be tolerated. Respect people’s personal space, identities and boundaries, and seek consent where appropriate.
Our space is intentionally inclusive. Club Sagacité welcomes everyone while remaining rooted in a mission that prioritizes Afro-descendant communities and people from historically marginalized identities. Members are expected to respect and contribute to that mission.
Member hours are for members. Access to the club during designated member hours is a privilege reserved for registered members. Please be mindful of this before inviting friends, collaborators or other visitors into the space.
Share the space. Be conscious of how much time and space you occupy, particularly when others are waiting to use shared workstations, DJ equipment, production equipment or other resources.
Treat equipment with care. Members are responsible for using Club Sagacité’s equipment appropriately and returning it to its original setup after use. If you are unsure how something works, please ask a staff member rather than risk damaging it.
Leave things as you found them. Take responsibility for cleaning up after yourself, disposing of garbage and returning furniture, cables, equipment and other shared resources to their proper place.
Encourage skill sharing. We want members to learn from one another. When possible, share what you know, exchange ideas and make room for mentorship and collaboration without judgment or gatekeeping.
You don’t need to know everything. Club Sagacité is a learning environment. Members come with different levels of experience, and beginners should feel as welcome to ask questions and experiment as more experienced members.
Our team is a resource. Staff are available to offer creative guidance, help you navigate the space and connect you with mentors or other members when possible. Don’t hesitate to reach out.
Respect creative work and privacy. Ask permission before photographing, filming or recording other members or sharing their work publicly. Ideas, works-in-progress and conversations shared in the space should be treated with consideration.
Communicate concerns early. If something in the space makes you uncomfortable, feels unsafe or isn’t working properly, please let a staff member know as soon as possible. Safety issues should always be reported immediately.
Conflict happens; handle it with care. Personal disagreements may arise in any community. Members are expected to approach conflict constructively and avoid behaviour that creates an intimidating, hostile or disruptive environment. Staff may step in when necessary to support resolution and protect the community.
Member hours are a shared creative environment. Be mindful of noise levels, conversations and activities happening around others who may be working, practicing or learning.
Smoking and vaping take place outside. Please use designated areas outside the club space.
Membership comes with responsibility. Access to Club Sagacité depends on respecting the space, its community and these guidelines. Repeated or serious violations may result in restricted access, suspension or termination of membership.
Club Sagacité reserves the right to intervene when necessary. The organization may restrict access or terminate a membership when behaviour compromises the safety, integrity or values of the space and its community.
Above all, Club Sagacité is what we collectively make of it. Be curious, share generously, respect the people and tools around you, and help us build the kind of creative community you want to be part of.
